Reporting to the Market Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Informatics Specialist will play an integral role in the Clinical and Administrative Operations across multiple hospitals and a large region of Northern California. Though this person won't have any direct reports, they'll work closely with two Pharmacist Supervisors and three Pharmacy Department Leads in addition to a tenured team of Pharmacy Techs, many of whom are PharmD prepared with PGY1 and/or PGY2 residencies, who work on the front lines of clinical pharmacy care.
The Inpatient Pharmacy Informatics Specialist will support Administrative and Clinical Pharmacy Operations at two Acute Care Medical Centers totaling around 300-beds. The Pharmacy Departments in these facilities are exceptionally outfitted with fully integrated cutting-edge information systems which are fully help with ordering inventory, improving patient safety, drug usage reporting, and cost tracking.
Working as a key member of the Clinical Operations Pharmacy team, the Inpatient Pharmacy Informatics Specialist will lead processes to protect patients and advance the mission of the department. This person will spearhead medication and drug therapy programs for dosages, interactions, allergies, and appropriate indicators, building processes and procedures along the way. In addition to the Program Management aspects of this role, the Pharmacy Specialist will also work with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists to provide education and guidance for a wide range of clinical situations. Someone with the appropriate clinical experience for a role like this usually has 5+ years of Clinical Pharmacist Educator experience or comes from a PGY1 or PGY2 residency program specializing in Inpatient Pharmacy and / or Informatics.
