Apprenticeship programme

During this Level 3 Engineering programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as your future career. Throughout the 42 - month programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working, problem-solving and customer focus. Veolia as a business is not only interested in what you accomplish, but the manner you do it.

As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional knowledge and experience, you'll also gain academic and vocational qualifications such as a Level 3 Diploma, Level 3 Competency & Knowledge Skills Certificate, as well as H&S (IOSH) Awareness Training.

What will you be doing?

  • Working alongside the Shift engineers, you will proactively undertake the monitoring, operation and maintenance routines of the on-site biomass & Kerosene fired steam boilers and associated equipment in order to provide steam to meet our Client's 24/7 production process.
  • Assist with Preventative planned maintenance (PPMs) as directed by the site supervisor.
  • Assist with Fault finding & diagnosis of plant defects, both mechanical and electrical.
  • Assist with the dismantling and reassembling of steam boilers and associated equipment for annual inspections. Physically demanding role - must be able to cope with some heavy lifting (e.g. Boiler equipment) working at Height and /or in confined spaces.
  • To produce, maintain and be responsible for content, accuracy and sign-off of log books.

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade 4 (C or equivalent) or above/predicted to include Maths & English
  • Full Driving Licence or Ability to travel to the site assessments
  • Good communication skills
  • Logical thinker
  • Attention to detail
