Job Description

Responsible for the efficient, cost effective maintenance repair and preventive maintenance of all equipment, buildings and facilities.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


1. Performs mechanical and electrical repair of all equipment associated with operations.

2. Installs machinery, pipes, structural steel, etc. at a multi-plant location.

3. Specify and purchase replacement parts and equipment.

4. Helps maintain correct stockroom inventory.

5. Receives and carries out directions accurately and efficiently.

6. Operates in compliance with all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.

7. Knows and complies with all corporate and plant policies and procedures.

8. Demonstrates commitment to Responsible Care in every day activities.

9. Directs all or portions of maintenance work crew or in concert with others as directed.

10. Interprets and reacts to instrumentation readings to control the process.

11. Diagnoses problems and determines course of action to solve or correct situation.

12. Maintains housekeeping.

13. Ability to self direct assignments and complete in a safe and efficient manner


Additional Duties & Responsibilities


1. Participates in plant-wide Safety, quality and productivity initiatives.

2. Participates on the Safety Committee on a voluntary rotational basis.

3. Participates in Safety activities (i.e., Toolbox meetings, accident investigations, hazard IDs, etc.)

4. Performs special projects or other duties as directed.



1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. To achieve B rate or higher, completion of four technical trade classes (two of which must be electrical.)


Skills & Knowledge:


1. Pass a mechanical aptitude test.

2. Able to follow written and verbal instruction.

3. Able to demonstrate basic computer skills.

4. Good interpersonal skills, works well within team environments.

5. Good decision making skills (makes decisions, acts upon them, willing to defend decisions over peer pressure.)

6. Must demonstrate a strong work ethic (attendance, attitude, etc.)




1. Ability to pass forklift certification course.

2. Pass PQ Maintenance Mechanic Written and Skills Tests.
